Tacet in Claude
Ask Claude about your store's customers and get answers from Tacet's scores: what your customers are worth over the next 12 months, who is due to reorder, where returns land, and what you can afford to pay for a new customer. Read-only, and limited to the store you sign in with.
What it does
Tacet scores every customer in your Shopify store on Forward CLV: each customer’s value over the next 12 months, after product cost and expected returns, valued in today’s dollars. It is not profit. The connector lets Claude read those scores and the analysis built on them, so you can ask in plain words instead of working through a dashboard.
Claude can read, for your store:
- The value overview: Forward CLV, value tiers, and where value concentrates
- What changed between scoring runs, the trajectory, and the 12-month forward line
- Ranked growth levers, reorder timing, payback curves, and acquisition cohorts
- Products ranked by the Forward CLV of the customers who buy them
- Returns: who drives refunded dollars and how return rates are spread
- Customer-level scores, looked up by customer id, email address, or order number
- The customer P&L and the daily Tracker
- Plays: the queue, each play’s result against its held-back group, and the ledger
- What data Tacet is still missing, and what each gap affects
Every answer carries the date of the scoring run it came from and what the figure rests on, such as whether the margin came from your own product costs. When your store does not yet have enough history for a figure, the connector says so and returns no figure.
Who it is for
Shopify brands on Klaviyo that use Tacet: founders, marketing and retention leads, and finance, anyone who would rather ask a question than build a report.
What you need first
- A Tacet account for your store. Your Shopify store must be connected to Tacet, and you must be a member of its organization. You sign in to the connector with the same account you use for the Tacet portal. The connector cannot create an account.
- Scores for your store. A newly connected store is synced and scored first. Until then the connector answers that scoring is still in progress.
- Klaviyo, for plays. Plays run through your own Klaviyo account, so questions about plays and their results need Klaviyo connected in the Tacet portal. The scores themselves come from your Shopify data.
- Claude. Claude on the web, Claude Desktop, or Claude Code. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds the connector once and each member then connects with their own Tacet account.
If your store is not on Tacet yet, start with the 30-day free trial. On day 1 it connects Shopify, read-only, and Klaviyo, with a sign-in.
How to connect
From Claude’s connector directory
Once Tacet is listed in Claude’s connector directory, open Settings, then Connectors, find Tacet, and choose Connect.
As a custom connector
Until then, or if you prefer, add it by URL:
Connector URL
https://mcp.tacet.ai/mcp
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Tacet and paste the URL above.
- Choose Connect, sign in with your Tacet account, and choose your store on the consent screen.
In Claude Code
Run claude mcp add --transport http tacet https://mcp.tacet.ai/mcp, then run /mcp inside Claude Code and sign in.
If you belong to more than one store, the consent screen asks which one. The connector answers for that store only. To switch stores, disconnect and connect again.
Questions to start with
Ask in your own words. These are questions retailers have asked, with what Claude reads to answer them. Claude also shows several of them as ready-made prompts.
| Ask | What Claude reads |
|---|---|
| “Give me this week's review of my store. Start from the brief, then go deeper only where something moved.” | The weekly brief, what changed, the ranked levers |
| “What is my customer base worth over the next 12 months, and what does that figure rest on?” | Forward CLV, value tiers, concentration, and the margin basis |
| “Can I afford to pay $45 to acquire a customer on our best-selling product, and when do they pay back?” | Payback curves by entry product |
| “Who should I remind to reorder this week, and how much Forward CLV do they hold?” | Reorder timing bands |
| “Where are my returns coming from? Keep refunds already issued apart from predicted returns.” | Returns concentration and distribution |
| “What is a second purchase worth from my one-time buyers, and how many of them can I reach?” | The one-time buyer opportunity, per conversion |
| “What changed in my customer base over the last 30 days, and is the comparison like for like?” | Movement between scoring runs |
| “What is Tacet still missing from my store's data, and what should I send to close each gap?” | Data gaps, ranked by how much they move the numbers |
What it can and cannot do
Today the connector only reads. Every tool it offers is marked read-only, so Claude can use it without changing anything.
- It never changes anything in your Shopify store or your Klaviyo account.
- It cannot propose, approve, send, or cancel a play. Plays are approved by an admin of your store in the Tacet portal, and nowhere else.
- It answers for the store you signed in with and no other. Each request carries your own sign-in.
- Customer email addresses are returned only when you ask for them. Otherwise customers are identified by customer id.
- It returns only figures Tacet has computed, and says so when a figure is withheld.
Each store may make 60 requests a minute and 2,000 a day through the connector. Past that, Claude is told how long to wait.
Data and privacy
- You sign in with your Tacet account through Clerk, our sign-in provider. Claude never sees your password.
- The connector stores nothing from the answers. Answers go to Claude, where Anthropic’s terms and your Claude settings apply.
- It keeps operational logs, such as which tool was called, for which store, and how long it took, for 30 days. It does not log your questions or customer email addresses.
- It does not read your Claude conversations, memory, or files.
- Tacet does not sell data or use connector traffic to train models.
The full statement is the Claude connector privacy policy. How Tacet handles your data overall is on the Security page and in our Privacy Policy.
If something goes wrong
The connector answers with a plain sentence when it cannot give a figure. The common ones:
- “This Tacet account is not attached to a store yet.” Your account belongs to no store. Connect your store to Tacet first, then disconnect and connect the connector again.
- “This organization is no longer connected to a store.” The store you chose has disconnected Tacet, or you chose an organization with no store. Reconnect and choose the right store, or reinstall Tacet on Shopify.
- Still syncing and scoring. A new store is scored after its first sync. Ask again once scoring finishes.
- Not enough purchase history. Tacet withholds value figures until a store has enough repeat buyers. What has been measured so far is still shown.
- A sign-in or credential error. Disconnect the connector in Claude, connect it again, and sign in.
